Match Report
We started out against the bigger & faster Perth side by using teamwork and sharp passes to score twice and establish our lead in the game. We then got complacent and started to go into contact too much which resulted in turnovers against us.
We were strong at the scrums and ball retention at rucks, but the Perth side used inside passes to support runners to break our lines of defence.
Several weaknesses of our game were highlighted as the game wore on. We were weak in terms of the “hit” in the tackles, and also discipline in our defence patterns.
Midway through the game, our team started to get their act together, and looked sharp in both attack & defence. We started to attack with purpose and controlled possession well to score several team tries. Towards the end, fatigue had started to set in, and we allowed Perth back into the game by missing our tackles.
The final score was Singapore 11 tries, Perth 9 tries.
