Game 1
Spore vs China (1030hrs)
Lost 0-32
1st Half 0-12, 2nd half 0-20. Full Time 0-32
The game started out with a kick to touch by China, and we lost the ball in the lineout which resulted in China scoring in the 1st minute of the game.
The restart was the same, but we won our lineout only to be forced out by China. From that lineout, our defence pattern paid off well to pressure them into their half which resulted in a turnover for us, where we started to attack for 4 minutes in consecutive phases. The second try from China came from a miscommunication in defence in open play, ending the 1st half with China leading by 12 – 0.
We kicked off in the second half and managed to recover the ball, only to lose it by bad handling which resulted in China scoring within 30secs. Their 2nd try came of open play in the 2nd minute of the game. The 3rd try was from a turnover lineout, which the opposition ran wide and our winger did not tackle. The final try came from a ruck turnover in the 5th minute.
By then, we were 32 points down when we had a break in the last minute, but cutting back inside allowed China to hold us up and end the game.

Game 2
Spore vs Japan (1440hrs)
Won 12 - 7
1st Half 12-0, 2nd half 0-7. Full Time 12 - 7
This was an evenly contested game, with our slightly more experienced players have the edge over Japan. We scored 2 tries in the 1st half off open play (Kristy The).
In the second half, we had a 60m break, only to knock on the all on the tryline (Ball transfer). From the ensuing scrum, lack of focus in defence allowed Japan to run 90m to score under our post to bring the scores up to 12 – 7 with slightly less then 2min to go. Fortunately, we held on and managed to win the game.

Day 1
We did not do well in our opening games against China, but we managed to step up on our second game against Japan. Going into the playoffs against New Zealand taught our team many things in terms of what we should do on the field as NZ just tore us apart in every phase by dominating all contact situations and having excellent handling skills & superior speed.
Day 2
Against Canada, we had a speedy backline to start the game, but we did not tackle, and it cost us several tries, the Canadians played an extremely physical game, and we lost our vice captain due to a fractured wrist from a late tackle. Against Thailand, we went with a bigger backline and that allowed Thailand to outrun us as we were again not tackling.
