Match Report
We started the game well from the kick off to pin China in their half with a good downtown kick from the start, and we went on to pressure them from the resulting lineout which went for several phases before we turned over the ball and were awarded a penalty which was converted. We led 3 – 0 nine minutes into the game.
From the restart, China applied pressure and managed to turn over the ball after we had run several phases. They stretched the play wide and scored their opening try in the 15th min by shifting the ball from end to end.
We came back fighting and we were awarded a penalty from our phase play in the 19th min. We converted to lead 6 – 5. From then on, it was China all the way, as we buckled under the pressure of their hard hitting forwards and faster backline due to our disadvantage in size, speed and fitness.
We put on a total of 7 subs in the second half as China drew further away based on Scores. They scored by running wide against us by using the width of the field, and we were slow to drift and make our tackles count.
